Borussia Dortmund have explained why their move to sign Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart has stalled.

Dortmund have been closing in on a deal to sign Guirassy for a fee of €18 million (£15m/$20m) from Stuttgart and the striker was poised to undergo his medical and complete the formalities of his move, having beaten competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich. However, Dortmund have now announced that there has been a snag when it comes to securing his signature.

THE EXPLANATION
Dortmund posted on X: "During a medical examination of Serhou Guirassy, an injury was discovered that requires further investigation."
It is unclear how long it will take for Dortmund to conduct further tests, or if it could completely derail the deal.

Guirassy enjoyed a remarkable season in 2023-24, netting 30 goals in 30 games in all competitions. His only injury issue last season came with a hamstring injury but Dortmund have clearly discovered a separate problem.
